Benefit Highbeam Dupe!

I've had my Benefit Highbeam for a while now and I cannot say more nice things about it since it has been my go to highlighter ever since I received this.  BUTTTTTTT I received about two weeks ago the Shimering Facial Whip in Lilac Petal by E.L.F. from one of my follow blogger friends Faith, from Defining Faith.  I haven't heard much about the Facial Whip products but I am so glad that Faith so kindly sent me it because I figured out that it was an exact dupe for Benefit's Highbeam!

He tenido mi Benefit Highbeam hace un tiempo y no puedo decir más cosas buenas sobre el ya que ha sido mi iluminador favorito desde que lo recibí. SIN ENBARGOOOOOOOOOO recibí hace unas dos semanas el Shimering Facial Whip in Lilac Petal por ELF  de mi amiga blogguera Faith, de Defining Faith. No he oído hablar mucho acerca de los Facial Whips, pero estoy tan contenta de que la Faith, quien fue tan amable me lo envió porque me di cuenta de que era una alternativa exacta para el Benefit's Highbeam!

They don't look alike in their packaging but when applied they are identical.

They both had a similar texture and have the exact same finish on the skin. They difference is the smell and that in the packaging they are different.  The big difference is the price, Highbeam retails for $26.00 and the Facial Whip retails for $1.00.  All on all if you are looking for a dupe for Highbeam and don't want to break the bank try the Facial Whip in Lilac Petal.

E.L.F. Golden Bronzer

One of my follow blogger friends Faith, from Defining Faith, actually sent me a surprise package with a bunch of goodies about a week ago and in that package she included the E.L.F. Golden Bronzer.  I was so excited when I saw this because I've seen it on the E.L.F. website but never really thought about purchasing it.

Golden Bronzer. Estaba tan emocionada cuando vi esto porque lo he visto en la página de web de E.L.F. pero nunca había pensado en comprarla.

Honestly I must say that I thought that it would be a bit darker than it actually turned out to be.  I actually don't even use this for bronzer; I use it as a highlight.  Since it is so light and has that shimmery quality to it, it makes it perfect for highlighting.  I usually use it on my cheekbones and my cupids bow to give my face a little glow.  I would recommend this for women or men who have darker skin since it has golden tones which suit darken skin tones perfectly.  With this product you must remember this: A little bit goes a long way, if not you may end up looking like a disco ball.  I really enjoy the product because even though it maybe didn't work out as a bronzer it turned out to be wonderful highlighter. You can purchase it at Kmart, Target, or on their website for $3.00. Also, the packaging is really nice it is also very similar to the Nars.

Honestamente debo decir que pensé que sería un poco más oscuro de lo que realmente resultó ser. En realidad ni siquiera lo puedo uso para bronceador pero lo uso como un iluminador. Ya que es tan clarito y tiene brillo lo hace perfecto para que sea un iluminador. Lo utilizo en mis mejillas y en el "cupid's bow" lo que le da a mi cara un poco de luminosidad. Yo recomendaría esto para las mujeres o los hombres que tienen la piel más oscura, ya que tiene tonos dorados que se adaptan a los tonos de la piel más oscuros perfectamente. Con este producto usted debe recordar esto: Solo usar una cantidad pequeña, si no usted puede terminar pareciendo una bola de discoteca. Me gusta mucho el producto porque a pesar de que tal vez no funcionó como un bronceador resultó ser iluminador maravilloso.  Usted puede comprarlo en Kmart, Target o en su página web por $3.00.  Además, el empaque es muy bonito y también es muy similar a los de Nars.

FOTD- Movie Time

Today's Face of the Day is a look I wear very often since it's so easy to do and still looks good for when you go out at night.  Since I didn't have a lot of time to get ready I went for my to go to look and added a bright pink lip to spice it up.  BTW I was going to watch the movie Ted, which was so and so for me.

Cream (Light/Medium) and Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation in True Nude (303) to give my skin a luminous glow without having to use highlighter.  Also my bottom lashes have the darkest brown and the bronze from the Maybelline ExpertWear Eyeshadow Quad in Chai Latte, with a little of Sin in the inner corners of my eye.

Abajo de mis pestañas inferiores tengo el marrón más oscuro y el bronce de la sombra de ojos  Maybelline ExpertWear Eyeshadow Quad in Chai Latte con un poco de Sin en las esquinas internas de mi ojo.

May Favorites (2012)

This month has been a hectic and stressful one since I finished my second year of college one week ago and it is also prom and graduation session so I've been using more products than usual.  A couple of products have been the same but some are new and have been getting a lot of use out of them.  I think the type of products I've loved this month is highlighter, as you will see later in this post.

FOTD- A Dash of Blue

It's been a while since I did a face of the day so I took advantage of Mother's Day and did both.  Since I wore a royal blue maxi dress I wanted my makeup to be a little more subtle, since it was during the day.  I went for a shimmery eye with blue underneath.

E.L.F. Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder

Today's post is a review on the E.L.F. Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder.  This is a powder duo including a blush and a bronzer from the very inexpensive brand E.L.F. which stands for Eyes Lips Face.  The bronzer is ideal for contouring your face (a dupe for Laguna bronzer from Nars) and the blush is a gorgeous peachy pink (dupe for Orgasm from Nars).  Also this just so happens to be my all time FAVORITE blush!

La entrada de hoy es una reseña sobre el E.L.F. Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder. Se trata de un dúo de polvo que incluye un rubor y bronceador de la marca E.L.F. muy económico que significa "Eyes Lips Face" (Ojos Labios Rostro). El bronceador es ideal para definir los contornos de su rostro (un producto muy similar al bronceador Laguna de Nars) y el rubor es un hermoso color de rosa/melocotón (un producto muy similar al Orgasm de Nars). ¡También este es el rubor mío FAVORITO!

Both of the products contain gold shimmer in it and really suit warmer skin tones.  When using the bronzer you really don't want to take too much since a little of it goes a long way.  It is also pretty dark so if you do have fair skin BEWARE you might want to opt for a lighter color, like Sunny from NYC.

Ambos productos contienen el un brillo de oro y realmente se adapte a tonos de piel más cálidos. Cuando se utiliza el bronceador no quieres tomar demasiado porque con un poco de ella vas a poder cubrir mucho. I really love the blush because even though is gives a soft color it gives me a glow that I love.

This retails for $3 which is crazy since it is such a wonderful product.  If you’re not familiar with the brand, it's a cosmetic line where the most expensive product is $6, most of them being $1-$3.  You can purchase their products at Kmart, Target, or on their website. Also, the packaging is really nice it is also very similar to the Nars.

Favorite Brushes!

I am super excited to finally be doing this post on my favorite brushes since I have gotten a lot of messages of people asking me to do this, so here it is!  One thing a person should invest in is a good set of brushes, because they will last forever and give you continuous great application.

¡Estoy súper emocionada de finalmente hacer esta "post" sobre mis brochas favoritas ya que me han llegado muchos mensajes de personas pidiéndome que lo haga, así que aquí está! Una de mis sugerencias es que es sumamente importante que inviertas en un buen conjunto de brochas, porque van a durar para siempre y le dará gran aplicación continua.

 This is the Sigma F80 (Large contour) brush and is by far the best blush I have tried hands down!  Since it is angled it hugs your cheeks and gives a beautiful blush application.

¡Este es la brocha de Sigma F80 (Large contour) y es la mejor brocha de rubor que he tratado! Debido a que tiene un ángulo y esto hace que abrace sus mejillas y le da una aplicación de rubor hermoso.

 If you have been reading my blog you will know that this is my all time favorite way to apply my foundation because it gives your skin such an airbrushed finish. It's the Sigma F80 (Flat Kabuki) brush.

This is the Sigma F30 (Large Powder) which is one of the softest powder brushes I've used, plus it's big.  I like to use this for setting my foundation.

 Ok this is by far my best investment as far as eye brushes go, the Sigma E40 (Tapered Blending).  I don't know how I was applying my makeup before this, it really helps to blend and concentrate the color on the outer v.

I was looking for a good pencil brush for ages but I couldn't find one really anywhere so when I got my Mr. Bunny set I was really happy to get the Sigma E30 (pencil) brush.  It works great to blend eyeliner and to put color onto the bottom lashes.

Not all brushes have to be high end! This was one of my first purchases and it still to this day is one of my favorite shading brush.  It's the E.L.F. Professional Defining Eye Brush and can be purchased at Kmart or on their website.

As you can see I really like Sigma brushes, because their quality is really good and they last forever. I really like their kits as well because they save you money and have all the essential brushes as you really need.  I also really like E.L.F. brushes because of the price and the accessibility.

FOTD- Saint Patrick's Edition

Today's FOTD is inspired by St. Patrick's Day hence the smokey green eye look and for a bit of fun I also added a double wing liner.  I hardly ever wear green shadow so I was kinda nervous of doing the look but I love the outcome and will probably wear it out at night.

El "FOTD" de hoy está inspirado por el Día de San Patricio, decir por lo tanto, hice este look de ojos ahumados de color verde y para un toque diferente le añadí con mi delineador una doble cola. Casi nunca me pongo sombra verde, así que estaba un poco nerviosa de hacer el look, pero me encanta el resultado y probablemente lo volveré a hacer para ponérmela de noche.

How to clean your dirty brushes

The brushes that we use daily are usually full of product but what many people don't realize is that they are full of dirt and bacteria.  This may cause breakouts, styes, allergic reactions, rashes among other things. Over the past year I have tried different methods of deep cleaning my brushes and finally found a way that suits me. 

Ingredients:

1. Olive oil
2. Liquid soap (preferably anti-bacterial)
3. Mixing bowl
4. Paper cloth
5. Dirty brushes

Instructions:

1. You want to make a mixture of both the soap and olive oil; half and half.
2. Wet the brush making sure not getting the upper part the barrel (because the glue will loosen and the bristles will shed).
3. Dip the brush in the mix and swirl in your palm and rinse with water.
4. Repeat part 3 until the water is clear.
5. Then squeeze out the excess water with a towel.
6. Set to dry on top off the paper towel.

You should deep clean your brushes once a week to two weeks and spot clean right after you clean your brushes.  A good spot cleaner is Mac's Brush Cleanser. And a BIG must is that you should never share brushes and if you do CLEAN them right after.  Hope you found this helpful!
