What's in my makeup bag?

This seems like a very popular post here in the Beauty Blog world so I thought, why not hop on?  I don't carry a lot of beauty items with me daily, but I do have a couple of things that might help you.

This is the makeup bag that I use on a daily bases which I received from Sigma and you might have seen it in an old post: How have I been applying my Foundation lately?

I always have with me/ Lo que siempre tengo conmigo:

• My blotting powder which happens to be the Maybelline Dream Matte Powder/ Mi polvo con un acabado mate para no lucir luminosa, Maybelline Dream Matte Powder
• A powder brush/ una brocha para usarlo con polvo
• The lip product I choose that day and maybe an extra if I want to change it/ El producto que decido usar para ese día y uno adicionar por si acaso lo quiero cambiar
• A lip balm, usually my EOS Lip Balm Smooth Sphere in Sweet Mint/ una acondicionador para los labios que usualmente es EOS Lip Balm Smooth Sphere en Sweet Mint.
• Some bobby pins/ unos pinches
• A hair tie/ Una goma para el pelo

It may not be a lot of things or maybe it's a lot compared to what you may be carrying but this is the perfect amount of items for me.  Maybe I will add something else every so often but these are my essentials.

Quick Tip: If the powder you use every day breaks but you still want to use it and take it places just put it in a Zip Lock baggy.

Favorite Brushes!

I am super excited to finally be doing this post on my favorite brushes since I have gotten a lot of messages of people asking me to do this, so here it is!  One thing a person should invest in is a good set of brushes, because they will last forever and give you continuous great application.

¡Estoy súper emocionada de finalmente hacer esta "post" sobre mis brochas favoritas ya que me han llegado muchos mensajes de personas pidiéndome que lo haga, así que aquí está! Una de mis sugerencias es que es sumamente importante que inviertas en un buen conjunto de brochas, porque van a durar para siempre y le dará gran aplicación continua.

 This is the Sigma F80 (Large contour) brush and is by far the best blush I have tried hands down!  Since it is angled it hugs your cheeks and gives a beautiful blush application.

 If you have been reading my blog you will know that this is my all time favorite way to apply my foundation because it gives your skin such an airbrushed finish. It's the Sigma F80 (Flat Kabuki) brush.

This is the Sigma F30 (Large Powder) which is one of the softest powder brushes I've used, plus it's big.  I like to use this for setting my foundation.

 Ok this is by far my best investment as far as eye brushes go, the Sigma E40 (Tapered Blending).  I don't know how I was applying my makeup before this, it really helps to blend and concentrate the color on the outer v.

I was looking for a good pencil brush for ages but I couldn't find one really anywhere so when I got my Mr. Bunny set I was really happy to get the Sigma E30 (pencil) brush.  It works great to blend eyeliner and to put color onto the bottom lashes.

Not all brushes have to be high end! This was one of my first purchases and it still to this day is one of my favorite shading brush.  It's the E.L.F. Professional Defining Eye Brush and can be purchased at Kmart or on their website.

As you can see I really like Sigma brushes, because their quality is really good and they last forever. I really like their kits as well because they save you money and have all the essential brushes as you really need.  I also really like E.L.F. brushes because of the price and the accessibility.

How have I been applying my Foundation lately?

 I have always used the method of applying my foundation with your regular sponges you can buy for a dollar at your local drug store but than I dabbled into brushes and other methods.  I've had my eye on the Flat Top Synthetic Kabuki brush (F80) from Sigma for awhile but just never got around to getting it. Luckily I was so graciously sent the brush a long with some other unexpected items.

Siempre he utilizado el método de aplicación de mi base con las esponjas regulares que se pueden comprar por un dólar en su farmacia local, también he probado otros métodos de aplicación entre ellos las brochas. He estado pendiente  de la brocha Flat Top Synthetic Kabuki brush (F80) de Sigma por un tiempo, pero no lo había comprado. Muy amablemente la compañía me envió la brocha con algunos otros productos inesperados.

This brush is very dense and gives a flawless coverage that you would not achieve with a regular foundation brush.  It is meant to buff in liquid makeup and even blend powders into your skin. The bristles I might add are very soft as well which makes the application of makeup much more pleasant.  Similar to the Mr. Bunny brushes these are synthetic bristles (not real hair) which is ideal for liquid makeup since it will not absorb it.

Esta brocha es muy densa y da una cobertura perfecta que no se lograría con una brocha de base regular. Tiene el propósito de pulir el maquillaje líquido e incluso hasta aplicar polvos en la piel. Las cerdas podría agregar son muy suaves, así hace que la aplicación de maquillaje sea mucho más agradable. Al igual que el las brochas del Mr. Bunny tiene cerdas sintéticas (no cabello real) que es ideal para el maquillaje líquido ya que no lo va a absorber.

I was also given two wonderful makeup bags that are soooo beautiful! One of them is more of the type of makeup bags that you would carry around in your purse and the other is a larger and is ideal for carrying larger amounts of makeup, ideal for traveling.

¡También me dieron dos bolsas de maquillaje maravillosos que son taaaan bonito! Uno de ellos es más del tipo de bolsas de maquillaje que le llevamos en nuestras carteas y el otro es uno más grande y es ideal para llevar grandes cantidades de maquillaje, ideal para viajar.

Save the Bunnies

Today I'm here with a review on a much requested post of what is my preferred brand of brushes.  I have quite a few brushes in my collection ranging from drugstore to high end.  Many of them are in fact drug store, but as a whole I believe that Sigma wins hands down.  They have a wide selection of brushes, makeup, and tools that are wonderful and for a high end brand aren't that expensive.   I recently got my hands on the Mr. Bunny collection (travel size) and I love it! Not only is it completely vegan it utilizes the Sigmax HD fibers.  What that means basically is that since it isn't real hair it won't absorb the product and it helps your makeup glide on easier giving you that flawless look.  

The packaging is cute and I think that it's adorable that they themed the box to have bunny hands at the top.

It also brings the brush holder which by itself costs $20 and it is essentially free.  

What I like to do with the brush holder is split it in half and divide my brushes into eyes and face. It's a great storage trick.

Another plus is that since the brushes are synthetic they are softer than real hair bristles.

If you're looking for good quality brushes that will last decades I highly recommend Sigma.  They have a lot of different collections to choose from as well.  Some of my recommendations would be:

How to clean your dirty brushes

The brushes that we use daily are usually full of product but what many people don't realize is that they are full of dirt and bacteria.  This may cause breakouts, styes, allergic reactions, rashes among other things. Over the past year I have tried different methods of deep cleaning my brushes and finally found a way that suits me. 

Ingredients:

1. Olive oil
2. Liquid soap (preferably anti-bacterial)
3. Mixing bowl
4. Paper cloth
5. Dirty brushes

Instructions:

1. You want to make a mixture of both the soap and olive oil; half and half.
2. Wet the brush making sure not getting the upper part the barrel (because the glue will loosen and the bristles will shed).
3. Dip the brush in the mix and swirl in your palm and rinse with water.
4. Repeat part 3 until the water is clear.
5. Then squeeze out the excess water with a towel.
6. Set to dry on top off the paper towel.

You should deep clean your brushes once a week to two weeks and spot clean right after you clean your brushes.  A good spot cleaner is Mac's Brush Cleanser. And a BIG must is that you should never share brushes and if you do CLEAN them right after.  Hope you found this helpful!
