NOTD- I Have a Herring Problem

Today's nail of the day features I Have a Herring Problem by O.P.I. from their 2012 Holland Collection.  I actually received this baby in the mail from Anna from Going to the Showing, featured in my Nail Mail post.  I really like this polish since it's different and the formula is amazing. *Warning this post is picture heavy*.

I Have a Herring Problem is a gorgeous blue with gray undertones that contains the finniest silver particles.  This is a creme finish, which is one of my favorites since it tends to look cleaner.  The formula is so wonderful; it goes on like butter!  With two coats is very opaque and isn't at all streaky.  The drying time is average since it is a creme finish, but it's nothing out of the ordinary.   It retails for around $8.00 anywhere O.P.I. is sold.

Este es un acabado crema, que es uno de mis favoritos ya que tiende a verse más limpio. ¡La fórmula es tan maravillosa; aplica sin ningún problema! Con dos capas es muy opaco y no es rayado. El tiempo de secado es normal, ya que es un acabado crema pero no es nada fuera de lo común.  Se vende por alrededor de $8.00 en cualquier lugar donde venden productos de O.P.I.

NOTD- Sky High

I must say that this is my favorite Nail of the Day because this has been my newest favorite nail polish thanks to the lovely Anna from Going to the Showing who sent me this in a nail swap.  This is Sky High by Color Club from the Take Wing Summer 2012 collection and I have to say I love everything about the polish, formula and all.

Debo decir que esta ha sido mi favorita de los "Nail of the Day" porque esto ha sido el más reciente gracias a Ana de Going to the Showing que me lo envió esto en un intercambio de esmaltes. Esto es Sky High de Color Club de la colección del verano 2012 Take Wing y tengo que decir que me encanta todo del esmalte, fórmula y todo.

I have to say I'm so pleased with the performance of the polish since it has a gorgeous color and payoff.  The only thing was that with your first coat it can be streaky but with the second coat everything is perfect.  It has a foil finish that in the bottle looks duo chrome (purple and turquoise) but it comes off on the nail as a dark turquoise.  This color is just so darn unique I cannot even believe I own it!  Every time I looked down at my nails I couldn't help but smile.  If you can get your hands on this one don't let go!

No puedo explicar cuan contenta con el funcionamiento del esmalte ya que tiene un color precioso y la dura mucho. Lo único es que con su la primera capa sale rayada pero con la segunda capa queda perfecto. Tiene un acabado tipo "foil" (como si fuese aluminio) que en la botella se ve dúo cromo (violeta y turquesa) pero en la uña solo parece como una turquesa oscuro. ¡Este color es tan único que ni siquiera puedo creer que lo tenga! Cada vez que veo mis uñas no puedo dejar de sonreír. ¡Si usted puede conseguirlo no lo dejes ir!

NOTD- Aruba Blue and Giveaway Winner!

Today's nail of the day features Essie's Aruba Blue which is a gorgeous blue with a shimmer finish.  I received this as a birthday gift from my best friend Elvira, who also has a cooking blog: First, Dessert: A Baker's Corner.  The color of this polish is incredible to say the least; it's such a beautiful royal/sapphire blue.

El "nail of the day" es Aruba Blue de Essie que es un azul bello con un acabado de brillo. Lo recibí como un regalo de cumpleaños de mi mejor amiga Elvira, que también tiene un blog de cocina: First, Dessert: A Baker's Corner. El color de este esmalte es increíble, es un hermoso azul royal /zafiro.

The down fail to this polish is the wear.  Now I would have to say that in general Essie polishes aren't my favorite just because they chip so easily on me.  But if you have no problems with Essie wear time well I would have to say that you NEED this in your collection.  I wore this on some of my fingers for the Fourth of July and it was the perfect American blue.  It applies well, isn't streaky, and is opaque in two coats just like most of Essie's polishes.  The only other thing I dislike about Essie is the price since it is a whopping $8.00 a bottle so that's why I never buy them, but if I receive them I'll use.

Lo malo de este esmalte es el tiempo de duración. Tengo que decir que en general los esmaltes de Essie no es mi favorito sólo porque se descascaran tan fácilmente. Pero si usted no tiene esta problema con Essie, tendría que decirle que usted NECESITA esto en su colección. Para el cuatro de julio tenia este esmalte puesto en algunos de mis dedos y fue el azul americano perfecto.  Aplica bien, no es rayada y es opaco con dos capas al igual que la mayoría de los esmaltes de Essie. La única otra cosa que no me gusta de Essie es el precio ya que cuesta $8.00 una botella es por eso no los compro pero si me los regalan pues ahí si los utilizo.

NOTD- Rose Inspired

A couple weeks back I was watching some YouTube videos and came across Arose186 nail tutorial on how to make this nail design.  Now I am not by any means good at nail art but when I saw the video I knew it was simple and that it was up my alley. Plus, it came out so gorgeous on her that I couldn't resist.  Now I modified it a bit to my taste, but it still came out awesome.  All you need is two polishes and you're good, I chose Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear in Coral Reef and Bettina in #45.

Hace unas semanas atrás estaba viendo algunos videos de YouTube y me encontré con el tutorial de uñas de Arose186 sobre cómo hacer que este diseño de uñas. No soy buena para nada en haciendo diseños de arte de uñas, pero cuando vi el video yo sabía que era simple y que era algo que yo podía hacer. Además, a ella le quedo precioso y no me pude resistir. Ahora lo he modificado un poco para mi gusto, pero aun así salió increíble. Todo lo que necesita es dos esmaltes y ya, opté por Coral Reef de Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear y #45 de Bettina.

If you want to learn how to do it check out the video, it's really simple and fun to do.  Plus, it looks sort of classy yet abstract at the same time.  I got a lot of complements on the nails and a lot of people asking me what they were (I am not an artist haha).  If you do them send me a picture on my Facebook or Twitter I'd love to see some recreations.

NOTD- Green with Envy

Today's Nail of the Day features Green with Envy by Maybelline from their new line Color Show.  Now I've been on the lookout for the perfect mint polish since it's the color of the season but nothing came close.  When I saw this at a CVS I was over the moon and plus it was the last one left. If your looking for a mint color that won't cost you an arm and a leg keep on reading.

El "nail of the day" es Green with Envy por Maybelline de la línea Color Show. He estado en la búsqueda de encontrar un esmalte de color menta, ya que es el color de la temporada, pero se me estaba haciendo casi imposible. Cuando vi esto en un CVS me puso extremadamente feliz además de que fue el último que quedaba. Si buscas un color menta que no le costará un brazo ni una pierna sigue leyendo.

Now for the how the polish performed.  I like my polish to last for at least 4 days even if I may change it before that time period.  I have to say if it wasn't for the color I would have returned it, it chipped on me the very same day. I gave it another shot just to see if it was bad luck, but unfortunately it chipped again.  I don't see myself purchasing any more if polish from this line due to the formula.  That being said it does apply well, it isn't streaky and it's opaque with two coats.  This also may be a dupe for Essie's Mint Candy Apple but I'm not a 100% sure.  It retails for around $2.99 anywhere Maybelline is sold.

Ahora les voy a hablar mas bien de la formula. A mi me gusta que mi esmalte dura por lo menos 4 días, aunque puede ser que lo cambie antes de ese período de tiempo. Tengo que decir que si no fuera por el color lo habría devuelto porque el mismo día que lo aplique se me descascaro. Le di otra oportunidad solo para ver si era mala suerte, pero por segunda vez hizo lo mismo. Yo no me veo comprando más de esta línea debido a la fórmula. Ya con eso dicho el esmalte aplica bien, no es rayada y es opaco con dos capas. Esto también puede ser un "dupe" para Mint Candy Apple de Essie, pero no estoy 100% segura. Se vende por alrededor de $2.99 en cual quier lugar donde venden productos de Maybelline.

NOTD- Haze

Today's nail of the day features Bettina's Haze from the Nature collection.  I have been on the hunt for finding a dupe for Sinful Color's Beverly Hills which was limited edition and I haven't been successful until I came across Haze.  My favorite color is purple and a lilac polish is a must in my collection.

He estado en la búsqueda de encontrar un esmalte parecido al Beverly Hills de Sinful Colors, que fue de edición limitada y que no he tenido éxito hasta que me encontré con Haze. Mi color favorito es violeta y un esmalte de color lila es una necesidad en mi colección.

I absolutely love this color! I would have to say it is my favorite, next to Beverly Hills that is, of all time!  Just like all Bettina polishes it goes on opaque with 2 coats and isn't streaky. It is a great spring/summer color and goes with pretty much anything.  It has a cream finish and dry time is decent. All Bettina polishes retail for around $2.50.

¡Me encanta este color! ¡Yo tendría que decir que es mi favorita, junto a Beverly Hills por supuesto! Al igual que todos los esmaltes de Bettina con dos capas es suficiente y no tiene una apariencia rayada. Es un esmalte ideal para primavera / verano y combina con casi cualquier cosa. NOTD- Wet Cement

Today's nail of the day is from Wet Cement by Sally Hansen from the Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear line.  I really like this line of polish since it lasts a long time and is very economic.  I had been looking for a grey color for a while and when I saw that this line of polish was having a sale, buy 2 of the polishes for $4, I snatched it.

El "nail of the day" es Wet Cement de Sally Hansen, de la línea Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear. Me gusta mucho esta línea de esmaltes, ya que tiene duran mucho tiempo y es muy económico. Yo he estado buscando un esmalte gris hace tiempo y cuando vi que esta línea de esmalte tenía una venta, compra 2 por $ 4, lo cogí sin pensar dos veces.

Really love the polish and I think it’s always great to have your basic grey.  It has a cream finish and good dry time.  This line usually has these types of sales often so you might want to wait until the next one.  This retails normally for $2.99.

NOTD- Trophy Wife

Today's nail of the day features Essie's Trophy Wife which was a present from my housemate for my 20th birthday.  It is a beautiful emerald blue green metallic teal shade that is unlike anything I own.  This polish is from Essie's the Dive Bar collection but you can still find this in stores.

El "nail of the day"de hoy es Trophy Wife de Essie que fue un regalo de mi compañera de apartamento para mi cumpleaños número 20. Es un hermoso azul verde esmeralda metálico color que no se parece a nada que tengo. Este esmalte es de la colección Dive Bar, pero todavía se puede encontrar en las tiendas.

In the light it really comes alive showing off its metallic shimmer.  Overall I really love the color but just staying power isn't the best (like most of the Essie polishes I have).  This does go on opaque and isn't streaky; it has a metallic finish.  This is just one of those polishes that make your skin look gorgeous!  This polish retails for about $8.00 and you can find it at Walgreens or Walmart.  It is also worth mentioning that Essie polishes are free of DBP, Toluene and Formaldehyde.

Cuando estas en la luz coge vida mostrando su brillo metálico. En general, me encanta el color, lo único es que no dura mucho (como la mayoría de los esmaltes de Essie que tengo). Esto es opaco y no es "streaky", tiene un acabado metálico. ¡Este es uno de los esmaltes que hacen que tu piel luzca hermosa! Este esmalte se vende por $8.00 y usted lo puede encontrar en Walgreens o Walmart. También vale la pena mencionar que Essie es libre de DBP, tolueno y formaldehído.

NOTD- Coral Reef and Green with Envy

Spring time has arrived and that means that you want to start wearing bright colors.  While I was wandering the aisles of Walgreens, I came across the 2 for $4.00 sale on the Sally Hansen Xtreme wear nail polishes and decided to get Coral Reef and Green with Envy. I also decided to wear them together after seeing the Eleventh Gorgeous video, which I thought was a really cool idea.

La primavera ha llegado y eso significa que debes de empezar a usar colores brillantes. Mientras caminaba por Walgreens me encontré una venta de los esmaltes Sally Hansen de su línea Xtreme Wear cuales estaban a 2 por $ 4.00 y decidí comprar Coral Reef y Green with Envy. También decidí usarlos juntos después de ver el vídeo de Eleventh Gorgeous, que me pareció como una idea genial.

The colors are beautiful and the formula as well.  I didn't have a problem with any of them, not even chipping.  They also apply well with two coats.

NOTD- Pink Forever

Current pink nail polish obsession! I received this polish for my birthday from a family friend and the first thing that came to mind was Barbie.  This is Sinful Colors Pink Forever, the perfect girly pink.  It is a creme finish and goes on opaque with 1-2 coats.  After applying it didn't scream Barbie but more of a true pink that is perfect for spring and summer.  It's part of their permanent line as well so it should be easy to find.

¡Esto es actualmente mi obsesión! Recibí este esmalte para mi cumpleaños de una amiga de la familia y lo primero que me vino a la mente fue Barbie. Esto es Pink Forever de Sinful Colors y es un color bien femenino. Es un acabado crema y es opaco con 1-2 capas. Después de que lo aplique no se me parecía el color de Barbie, pero más de una rosa verdadera que es perfecto para la primavera y el verano.  Es parte de su línea permanente así que debe ser fácil de encontrar.

If your looking for a go to pink I recommend this one.  Plus Sinful Colors are only $1.99, SCORE!  Currently have this on my toes as well.

NOTD- Sherbert and Bedazzled

Today's NOTD features two of my latest conquests, Sherbert from Bettina's Candy collection and Bedazzled from Claire's.  Plus keep on reading because these are some dupes :D

El "NOTD" de hoy exhibe dos de mis últimas conquistas, Sherbert de la colección de Candy de Bettina y Bedazzled de Claire's. Sigan leyendo porque van a ver que estas son opciones económicas para unos esmaltes más caras: D

If you can't tell I'm a sucker for any coral/orange nail polish so naturally I choose to paint my nails this beautiful color for the beginning of Spring.  Bettina is such a wonderful company who sells a wide variety of polishes for under $2.50.  Just as any other Bettina polish I own this goes on with 2 coats and lasts a good 4 days. This is a dupe for Wet n Wild Megalast Heatwave which is just a tad bit more redder.  Sherbert is more of a pinky orange.

Si todavía no se a fijado me encanta los tonos coral/naranja, entonces naturalmente opte pintarme las uñas de este color hermoso para el comienzo de la primavera. Bettina es una compañía maravillosa que vende una amplia variedad de esmaltes por menos de $2.50. Al igual que de los esmaltes Bettina que poseo con 2 capas es suficiente para que te cubra su una y dura por lo menos 4 días. Este es una alternativa de Heatwave de la línea Megalast de Wet n Wild que es un poco más rojizo. Sherbert es más un color naranja rosado.

Now for the fun part! I've been such an accent nail addict lately so naturally I wanted to pair it with a fun glitter.  I choose Bedazzled by Claire's which is such a fun multi colored glitter polish.  It has all kinds of size glitters and is very easy to apply.  What is so special about this polish is that I received this in a giveaway from the wonderful sisters from Eleventh Gorgeous.  (Check them out they are AWESOME!)

¡Ahora viene la parte divertida! He estado adicta a las uñas de acento últimamente entonces naturalmente tuve que coordinarlo con un brillo divertido. Escogí a Bedazzled de Claire's, que es un esmalte de diferentes colores de brillo divertido. Tiene diferentes tamaños de brillo y es muy fácil de aplicar. ¿Qué es tan especial acerca de este esmalte? Lo recibí en un sorteo de las hermanas de Eleventh Gorgeous. (¡Vayan y mira su canal en Youtube son super buenas!)

NOTD: I Need a Re-fresh Mint and Celebrate

It's Spring and you now I'm pulling out my pastels polishes.  I wanted to have a twist on the usual pastel blue I paired it with a gold.  I have on Wet n Wild's I Need a Re-fresh Mint and on my ring finger Bettina's Celebrate.  I Need a Re-fresh Mint is the epitome of the classic Tiffany blue.  The formula is very rich and creamy, and goes on opaque in two coats.  The gold is so beautiful, it's a gorgeous micro glitter gold that goes on so easily.

Es primavera y sabes que a empezar a sacar mis esmaltes de colores que están de moda. Yo quería hacer algo diferente en vez del típico color azul pastel, entonces lo junte con oro. Tengo puesto Wet n Wild's I Need a Re-fresh Mint y en mi dedo de anillo tengo Celebrate de Bettina.  I Need a Re-fresh Mint es el epítome del clásico azul de Tiffany. La fórmula es muy buena y cremosa y opaco con dos capas. El oro es tan hermoso, es un brillo bien pequeño aplica con tanta facilidad.

I got my hands on the new re-formulated Wet n Wild polishes and BOY did they step it up.  Not only is the brush ten million times better the color pay off is a-maz-ing.

Por fin logre conseguir los nuevos re-formuladas esmaltes de Wet n Wild y déjame decirles que son mil veces mejor. No sólo es la brocha que esta mejor pero también la pigmentación es fan-tas-tico.

NOTD- Steel Grey by Rimmel

Steel Grey was my first Rimmel nail polish (Lasting Finish Pro). At first I was skeptical about getting it because I haven’t heard the best things about their nail polishes, but I must say I’m impressed.  Steel Grey is the perfect fall/winter nail polish; it’s definitely not a grey grey (if you get my drift) it’s more on your brownish purplish side. It is also a TAD darker than it is in the packaging. No less it is GORGEOUS! Has a good formulation and I am always fond of these types of brushes.  It has the typical wide brush and with two coats you’re good to go.  Wears good and I haven’t experienced chipping since I’ve gotten the polish.  I would say it lasts up to a week.

"Steel grey" fue mi primer esmalte de Rimmel (de la linea Lasting Finish Pro). Al principio yo sabia si valía la pena comprarlo porque no he escuchado las mejores cosas acerca de las esmaltes de uñas de Rimmel, pero tengo que decir que estoy muy impresionada. Steel Grey es perfecto para las épocas de otoño / invierno, definitivamente no es un gris gris (si usted me entiende) tiene más un color de púrpura/marrón. También es un poco más oscuro que se encuentra en el envase. ¡Sin embargo es PRECIOSO! Tiene una buena formulación y siempre me encantan estos tipos de brochas. Su brocha es ancha y con dos capas cubre completamente. No he experimentado "chipping" que lo he tenido. Yo diría que dura hasta una semana.

It’s a dupe for Chanel’s Particuliere, Sally Hansen’s Commander in Chic and Sephora by O.P.I. Metro Chic.  I know it's not fall or winter anymore but since it's been raining a lot lately I was in the mood for a gloomy polish (make sense).

Este esmalte es muy parecido a Particulière de Chanel,  Commander in Chic de Sally Hansen en Chic y Chic Metro de Sephora por la OPI. Yo sé que no es otoño ni tampoco invierno pero ya que ha estado lloviendo mucho últimamente yo estaba en el humor para un esmalte más sombrío.

NOTD- Valentine Edition

This special NOTD post is obviously inspired by Valentine's Day.  Wanting to stay in the range of pinks and reds I came up with this simple cute look that is VERY easy to obtain.  I started out with a base (any will do) and then applied two coats of Bettina's “Cotton Candy”, which is a creamy baby pink polish, on all my nails.  I waited about 5 minutes for it to dry and put on both ring fingers Deborah Lippmann's "Do ya think I'm sexy", red glitter polish that has chunky hexagonal glitters.  With this polish you might want to adjust the glitters so it covers your entire nail.  Then waited 2 minutes and put on my top coat.  My favorite is Sally Hansen Insta-Dri because it literally dries in about 2 minutes.

Just as a side note Bettina polishes are the bomb! They cost about $2.50 a pop and they are very opaque. I haven't had a problem with any of them so far and I have a lot of them in my collection.
