2012 Summer Nail Polish Trends

Since I had such a good response with my 2012 Spring Nail Polish Trends and that it is officially summer it’s time for my 2012 Summer Nail Polish Trends post.  As usual summer is about bright and fun colors but there are also just some colors which I haven't been able to put down.

EOS Every Day Hand Lotion

As most of you know I love EOS to death and anytime I see something new and/or I have the money to get any of their products and buy them since all of their products are so good.  My most recent item that I got from them is the Every Day Hand Lotion which I received as a birthday present from my awesome housemate. <3 Now I have never been the hand lotion type of girl but I must say that this product motivates me to remember to use it since it has the most lovely texture to it.  It's almost as if it leaves a powder yet hydrating feel to it.

Es casi como si fuese un polvo pero a la misma vez es hidratante.

 

I have the original version and it has a "calming yet fresh" scent to it. As I mentioned the texture seems to leave a powdery feel to it which means that it isn't greasy, but at the same time you can feel the moisture being absorbed.  What is awesome about this as well is that as usual the packaging is ergonomic and compact so it’s easy to take with you anywhere. The EOS hand creams are 97% natural; they are enriched with Shea Butter, antioxidants, Vitamin E and C, and Oat extract.  None of them contain Dyes, Paraben, Lanolin, or Phthalate.  They are suitable for all skin types and are Hypoallergenic and are Dermatologist tested.  There are 2 other scents: Everyday Hand Lotion- Cucumber and Everyday Hand Lotion- Berry Blossom.  It retails for around $3.99 at drugstores.

Urban Decay Sin Eyeshadow

The Urban Decay eye shadow in Sin is one of my most used products this year by far since I received it in my December MyGlam Bag.  It is from the old line of Urban Decay (the new one is just reformulated) but I think it has a wonderful texture and payoff.  It is a great all over color and perfect for day time of night time use.  But the best part about this product is that it is multipurpose; I use this as both eye shadow and/or a highlight for my face.

This is has been part of my daily summer routine for the past couple of weeks since it's so easy and quite (I just swipe it on with my finger).  It has a very creamy and smooth texture with makes it very easy to work with and it goes without asking that it is very pigmented. When I use it as a highlight I like to apply it with my finger above my cheekbones and then with a powder brush blend it out.  Even though I could never justify paying $17 for a single eye shadow I would purchase this just because it's multipurpose.  This retails for around $17.00 (or $18.00 for the new formulated one) and can be purchased wherever Urban Decay products are sold.

Esto ha sido parte de mi rutina diario de verano desde hace un par de semanas ya que es muy fácil y rápido (solo lo aplico con el dedo). Tiene una textura muy cremosa y suave que lo hace muy fácil para trabajar con él y no hace ni falta preguntar que es muy pigmentada. Cuando lo uso como un "highlighter" me gusta aplicarlo con el dedo por encima de mis pómulos y luego con una brocha de polvo lo difumino.  A pesar de que nunca podría justificar pagar $17 para una sola sombra de ojos me compraría esto sólo porque es de usos múltiples. NOTD- Rose Inspired

A couple weeks back I was watching some YouTube videos and came across Arose186 nail tutorial on how to make this nail design.  Now I am not by any means good at nail art but when I saw the video I knew it was simple and that it was up my alley. Plus, it came out so gorgeous on her that I couldn't resist.  Now I modified it a bit to my taste, but it still came out awesome.  All you need is two polishes and you're good, I chose Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear in Coral Reef and Bettina in #45.

Hace unas semanas atrás estaba viendo algunos videos de YouTube y me encontré con el tutorial de uñas de Arose186 sobre cómo hacer que este diseño de uñas. No soy buena para nada en haciendo diseños de arte de uñas, pero cuando vi el video yo sabía que era simple y que era algo que yo podía hacer. Además, a ella le quedo precioso y no me pude resistir. Ahora lo he modificado un poco para mi gusto, pero aun así salió increíble. Todo lo que necesita es dos esmaltes y ya, opté por Coral Reef de Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear y #45 de Bettina.

Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles (Brightener)

I've heard so many good things about the Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles that I just had to try it, but when I went into Walgreens to get it all the shades looked too dark for my complexion so I went with the brightener.  This can definitely be used as both a concealer and a highlighter if you want, but I choose to use it as a concealer.

He escuchado tantas cosas buenas acerca del Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles que tenía que probarlo pero cuando fui a Walgreens para comprarlo todos los tonos se me parecieron muy oscura para mi tono de piel, así que fui con el "brightener". Esto puede ser utilizado como un corrector y un "highlighter" si quieres, pero yo lo utilizo como un corrector.

It has an antibacterial sponge tip that helps keep the bacteria at bay.

I am very happy I jumped on the bandwagon because I love the product!  It has a thin consistency to it which helps because it won't fall into the fine lines of your under eye and it won't look cakey either.  Application is easy since it is a twist up product.  There is some controversy over the antibacterial applicator since some say it’s not hygienic but it has anti-bacterial qualities plus you’re going to put your makeup on with a clean face on anyway.  I want to try the normal shades as well to see if they match my skin since I loved this so much.  This retails for around $9.99 and can be purchased wherever Maybelline products are sold.

Jordana Incolor Fabu Liner

I'm sure you have heard me rave about this product before since it is my favorite liquid liner and if not it's the Jordana Incolor Fabu Liner.  I discovered this about two years ago when I was really getting into the makeup scene and found it at my local Walgreens for $1.99.  It blew my mind and I have been repurchasing it ever since.

Estoy segura de que ustedes me han oído hablar maravillas de este producto antes ya que es mi delineador líquido favorito y si no es el Jordana Incolor Fabu Liner. Descubrí esto hace dos años cuando yo estaba empezando a interesarme más en la escena de maquillaje y lo vi en mi Walgreens local por $1.99. Me encanto tanto que le he seguido comprando.

It has a felt tip applicator which gives you a lot of control when applying.

There's not much more to say other than it works wonders and for the price you can't really go wrong.  I always recommend this to anyone who is looking for a liquid liner.  It leaves a semi- matte finish and last the whole day.  If I'm not mistaken there is also a brown version.  This also has a lot of product inside and can last up to 8 to 10 months if you take care of it.  This retails for around $1.99 and can be purchased wherever Jordana products are sold.

No hay mucho más que decir aparte de que funciona de maravilla y con ese precio no se puede quejar. Yo siempre recomiendo este producto a cualquiera que esté buscando un delineador líquido. Deja un acabado semi-mate y durar todo el día. Si no me equivoco también hay una versión de color marrón. Esto también tiene una gran cantidad de producto en su interior y puede durar hasta 8 a 10 meses si usted toma el cuidado de él. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains- Cherish

All the hype lately has been over the new Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains which hit the stores around last month.  As most of you may have heard already they are dupes for the Tarte LipSurgence Natural Lip Tints and the Clinique Chubby Sticks.  The only difference is the staying power since Revlon's product is a stain.  Since they are kind of pricey (life of a college student) I decided on picking up only one, Cherish, which is your bright baby pink shade. This is Revlon's new and improved stain, but I'm not sure if they will be replacing the Just Bitten Lipstain + Balm.

Todo el entusiasmo ha sido últimamente sobre los nuevos Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains que llegaron a las tiendas alrededor del mes pasado. Como muchos de ustedes seguramente ya hubieron oído hablar ya que son idénticos a los por los Tarte LipSurgence Natural Lip Tints y los Clinique Chubby Sticks. La única diferencia es que duran por un tiempo prologado ya que el producto de Revlon es un "stain". Ahora ya que son un poco caro (la vida de un estudiante de la universidad es triste) me decidí por comprar sólo uno, Cherish, que es un tono "baby pink" brillante. Esto es el producto nuevo y mejorado de Revlon, pero no estoy segura que si van a sustituir los Just Bitten Lipstain + Balm.

To get more product all you have to do is twist it up, thank God no sharpening.

I must say I really love this product the only thing I would say is that this shade didn't have outstanding staying power.  It lasted for about 2 hours and left my lips lined with the color (I hate when that happens).  Other than that it is definitely a product worth buying.  Since it is a "balm" it hydrates your lips but at the same time being a stain it does tint your lips.  It had a minty smell and feeling to the product (similar to Tarte's version) which I really like.  It contains 2.7 grams of product which is about half of the tube so don't be expecting a lot of product.  I can't wait to purchase more of the balm stains, specifically the darker shades since I know they stain the lips for a longer amount of time.  There are a variety of colors ranging from light to dark, all in all there are 12 shades.  This retails for around $8.99 and can be purchased wherever Revlon products are sold.

Debo decir que realmente me gusta este producto lo único que diría es que este tono no duro a largo plazo. Duró alrededor de 2 horas y dejó mis labios alineados con el color (odio cuando eso sucede). Aparte de eso, sin duda vale la pena comprar un producto. Dado que es un "balm" hidrata los labios, pero al mismo tiempo, ya que es un "stain" te deja tus labios con el color. Tiene un olor a menta y también puedes sentirlo (similar a la versión de Tarte), que realmente me gusta. Contiene 2.7 gramos de producto que es aproximadamente la mitad del tubo así que no esperes el tubo completo lleno del producto. No puedo esperar para comprar más de los balm stains, específicamente los tonos más oscuros ya que sé que mancha los labios de una cantidad de tiempo más largo. AVON Eye Makeup Remover Lotion

An essential item that every girl should have in her makeup collection is makeup remover, especially for your eyes.  I've used various products before which I've liked such as the L'oreal Refreshing Eye Make-Up Remover and the Walgreens brand makeup wipes.  I've liked most of the products I've bought but nothing came close to the price of the AVON Moisture Effective Eye Makeup Remover Lotion which is $1!  Actually it normal price is usually $3.99 but it is almost always on sale for $1.

I tried this out because my mother had bought is to sample as well and we both love it!  We both have been using this for over a year and nothing compares.  It is very moisturizing since it is a lotion and it doesn't bother your eyes.  I does leave a greasy feeling but you’re going to wash your face anyway afterwards.  I use a cotton ball for both of my eyes and it removes everything.  I always stock up whenever I see that the $1 special is going on since it's such a steal.  I really recommend this for anyone who is looking for an inexpensive eye makeup remover.

¡Yo probé este producto porque mi madre lo había comprado para probarlo y a las dos nos encanta! Mi madre e yo hemos estado utilizándolo durante más de un año y nada se compara. Es muy hidratante, ya que es una loción y no molestan los ojos. Deja una sensación grasosa, pero como quiera vas a lavar tu cara de todos modos después. Yo utilizo una bola de algodón para los dos ojos y se elimina todo. Siempre compramos muchos cuando vemos que esta la especial de $1. Realmente recomiendo esto para cualquier persona que esté buscando un removedor del maquillaje del ojo de bajo costo.

NOTD- Green with Envy

Today's Nail of the Day features Green with Envy by Maybelline from their new line Color Show.  Now I've been on the lookout for the perfect mint polish since it's the color of the season but nothing came close.  When I saw this at a CVS I was over the moon and plus it was the last one left. If your looking for a mint color that won't cost you an arm and a leg keep on reading.

El "nail of the day" es Green with Envy por Maybelline de la línea Color Show. He estado en la búsqueda de encontrar un esmalte de color menta, ya que es el color de la temporada, pero se me estaba haciendo casi imposible. Cuando vi esto en un CVS me puso extremadamente feliz además de que fue el último que quedaba. Si buscas un color menta que no le costará un brazo ni una pierna sigue leyendo.

Now for the how the polish performed.  I like my polish to last for at least 4 days even if I may change it before that time period.  I have to say if it wasn't for the color I would have returned it, it chipped on me the very same day. I gave it another shot just to see if it was bad luck, but unfortunately it chipped again.  I don't see myself purchasing any more if polish from this line due to the formula.  That being said it does apply well, it isn't streaky and it's opaque with two coats.  This also may be a dupe for Essie's Mint Candy Apple but I'm not a 100% sure.  It retails for around $2.99 anywhere Maybelline is sold.

Ahora les voy a hablar mas bien de la formula. A mi me gusta que mi esmalte dura por lo menos 4 días, aunque puede ser que lo cambie antes de ese período de tiempo. Tengo que decir que si no fuera por el color lo habría devuelto porque el mismo día que lo aplique se me descascaro. Le di otra oportunidad solo para ver si era mala suerte, pero por segunda vez hizo lo mismo. Yo no me veo comprando más de esta línea debido a la fórmula. Ya con eso dicho el esmalte aplica bien, no es rayada y es opaco con dos capas. Esto también puede ser un "dupe" para Mint Candy Apple de Essie, pero no estoy 100% segura. Se vende por alrededor de $2.99 en cual quier lugar donde venden productos de Maybelline.

NYX Trio in Frosted Lilac/Pacific/Kiwi

Now this girl loves a sale (who doesn't) and I've noticed that Walmart has been putting a lot of the NYX shadows on clearance.  I'm not sure if certain trios are being discontinued or what the deal is but I got this one for only $2! Yes $2 instead of the normal $6 price tag.  So naturally I snatched it up.  This trio includes a lilac, blue, and green perfect color for spring and summer.

Ahora bien, a mi me encanta una venta (quien no) y me he dado cuenta de que en Walmart han estado poniendo un montón de las sombras de NYX en liquidación. No estoy segura de si ciertos tríos se están descontinuado o cual es el dilema, ¡pero obtuve éste por sólo $2! Sí $2 en lugar del precio normal de $6. Así que, naturalmente lo cogí sin pensarlo mucho. Este trío incluye una lila, azul y verde, unos colores perfectos para la primavera y el verano.

My final thoughts:  I'm glad I paid the $2 price tag instead of the $6 one.  Why? The colors are beautiful in the packaging and when you swatch them but they don't translate as pigmented on the lids as well as it being very powdery.  I was so excited when I swatched them but once I started to apply it on the eye it just disappeared.  I might try another trio just to see if all of them are the same formulation but most likely won't spend the $6 price tag.

Mis pensamientos finales: Me alegro de haber pagado el precio de $2 en lugar del precio normal de $6. ¿Por qué? Los colores son hermosos en el envase y cuando usted los muestra pero no se traducen igual en los párpados, también son muy polvorientos. Estaba tan emocionada cuando los muestre pero una vez que comencé a aplicármelo en el palpado se desapareció. Yo trataría otro trío sólo para ver si todos ellos son de la misma fórmula, pero lo más probable no va a gastar el los $6.

Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipsticks

My favorite lipstick line hands down in Covergirl Lip Perfection.  Not only are they crazy pigmented and creamy, they are also long lasting.  This line is relatively new (I'm estimating about two years old) and ever since I tried them I was hooked.  It embodies exactly what I expect in a lipstick and even surpasses it.  Even the packaging is really nice having a metallic case and giving a preview of the color at the bottom.

Mis lápices labiales favoritos so de la línea de Lip Perfection de Covergirl. No sólo son super pigmentada y cremoso, también son de larga duración. Esta línea es relativamente nuevo (estoy estimación de alrededor de dos años) y desde que los probé me quedé encantada. Encarna exactamente lo que yo espero en un lápiz labial e incluso la supera. Hasta el envase es agradable ya que tiene la tapa es metálica y ofrece una vista previa del color en la parte inferior.

All these shades are very wearable even the hot pink shade (Spellbound) all you need to do is have your eye makeup very neutral.  My most recent shade has been Rush since I was looking for a more beige/brownish color and really like this for day to day use and think it's perfect for the fall.  Feline is a pink/salmon shade that has a pearl/metallic finish to it which gives it dimension.  This line has a variety of finishes and has 44 shades so there is bound to be a shade you will like.  They are also very long lasting, since they leave a stain to your lips that lasts for hours. They retail for around $7.99 and can be found anywhere Covergirl products are sold.

Todos estos tonos se pueden utilizar por el día, incluso el color fushia (Spellbound).  Todo lo que necesitas hacer es tener tu maquillaje de ojos muy neutral. El color más reciente ha sido Rush ya que he estado buscando un color beige/marrón y es perfecto para el uso diario y creo que es perfecto para el otoño. Feline es un tono de color rosa / salmón, que tiene un acabado perlado / metálico para lo que le da dimensión. Esta línea tiene una variedad de acabados y dispone de 44 tonos, así que tiene que a ver un tono que le guste. También son muy duraderos, ya que dejan un "stain" en los labios que dura horas. Se vende por alrededor de $7.99 en farmacias o cual quier lugar donde venden productos de Covergirl.

Oil-free Moisture Review

Today's post features my current daily moisturizer by Neutrogena, the Oil-free Moisture for Combination Skin.  I bought this around November in a rush because I had ran out of my all-time favorite moisturizer, Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel by Clinique.  And I must admit I actually enjoy this much more than Clinique's moisturizer.

La reseña de hoy es sobre mi humectante actual de Neutrogena, el Oil-free Moisture para la piel mixta. Compré el producto alrededor de noviembre en un apuro porque se me acabo mi humectante favorita, Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel de Clinique. Y debo admitir que realmente me gusta mucho más que la de Clinique.

All you need is a pea sized amount to cover your whole face/ Solo necesitas una cantidad del tamaño de un guisante para cubrir toda su cara 

This product is wonderful for a lightweight moisturizer that won't clog your pores yet at the same time feels hydrating on your skin.  This also lasts forever, I haven't even made it half way through this bottle and I've had it since November.  This product does not contain oil, alcohol or fragrance and does not clog your pores.  I use this in the morning and at night.  I enjoyed this product so much I am thinking about purchasing the Oil-Free Moisture SPF 35 so I could wear that during the day.  If you do not have combination skin, fear not because there are moisturizers also for sensitive skin and two of them with SPF 35 and 15.  This retails for around $9.99 and can be found anywhere Neutrogena products are sold.

Este producto es maravilloso porque es un humectante liviano que no obstruyen los poros sin embargo, al mismo tiempo se siente hidratante sobre la piel. Esto me a durado un montón, ni siquiera he llegado a la mitad de la botella y lo he tenido desde noviembre.  Este producto no contiene aceite, alcohol o perfume y no obstruye sus poros. Yo lo uso durante la mañana y por la noche. Disfruté de este producto tanto que estoy pensando en comprar la humectante, Oil-Free Moisture SPF 35 porque seria ideal para usarlo durante el día. Si usted no tiene la piel mixta, no se preocupe ya que hay humectantes para la piel sensible también y dos de ellos con SPF 35 y 15.
