Benefit Highbeam Dupe!

I've had my Benefit Highbeam for a while now and I cannot say more nice things about it since it has been my go to highlighter ever since I received this.  BUTTTTTTT I received about two weeks ago the Shimering Facial Whip in Lilac Petal by E.L.F. from one of my follow blogger friends Faith, from Defining Faith.  I haven't heard much about the Facial Whip products but I am so glad that Faith so kindly sent me it because I figured out that it was an exact dupe for Benefit's Highbeam!

He tenido mi Benefit Highbeam hace un tiempo y no puedo decir más cosas buenas sobre el ya que ha sido mi iluminador favorito desde que lo recibí. SIN ENBARGOOOOOOOOOO recibí hace unas dos semanas el Shimering Facial Whip in Lilac Petal por ELF  de mi amiga blogguera Faith, de Defining Faith. No he oído hablar mucho acerca de los Facial Whips, pero estoy tan contenta de que la Faith, quien fue tan amable me lo envió porque me di cuenta de que era una alternativa exacta para el Benefit's Highbeam!

They both had a similar texture and have the exact same finish on the skin. They difference is the smell and that in the packaging they are different.  The big difference is the price, Highbeam retails for $26.00 and the Facial Whip retails for $1.00.  All on all if you are looking for a dupe for Highbeam and don't want to break the bank try the Facial Whip in Lilac Petal.

Back to School Necessities

School has started for some people and hasn't for others. I however started my third year of university two weeks ago and have been wanting to write a post on what are the school necessities.  Some people like to wear a full face of makeup, others wear the minimal, and others wear nothing.  This is just my take on what I think is school appropriate.

La escuela ha comenzado para algunas personas y para otros aun no a comenzado. Sin embargo yo empecé mi tercer año de universidad dos semanas atrás y desde ese entonces tenía ganas de escribir un post sobre lo que son las necesidades de belleza para la escuela. Algunas personas les gusta utilizar un maquillaje completo, otros usan lo mínimo y otros llevan nada. Esto es sólo mi opinión sobre lo que creo que es apropiada para la escuela.

1. Concealer is a must for those days where you're under eye bags are huge.  I've been using the Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles (Brightener).
2. You can choose to wear foundation or wear nothing.  I personally like to wear mineral foundation since its very light yet still covers up my imperfections.  I like wearing the L'oreal True Match Naturale Gentle Mineral Makeup.
3. You're going to want to keep those eyebrows looking clean looking so you might want to invest in an eyebrow pencil.  I've had a couple of pencils and currently I'm using the Maybelline Master Shape Brow Pencil.

3. The very first item of makeup I ever wore was eyeliner and I consider it a must have.  The one I've been currently wearing is the Soft Kohl Kajal Liner Pencil from Rimmel.

1. A blush is also a must since it brightens up any look.  I choose the Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blushes because they are very easy to use and all you need it your fingers to apply.
2. Now some people might go all out with lipsticks and lip stains, but I went with a simple lip balm since it is school and you don't want to look over done. My favorite lip balms are the EOS Lip Balm Smooth Sphere.

1. Un rubor es también un esencial ya que ilumina cualquier look. Escogí los rubores Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blushes porque son muy fácil de usar y todo el que lo necesite son sus dedos para la aplicación.
2. Algunas personas se ponen lápices labiales y lipstains para la escuela, pero prefiero utilizar un producto para condicionamiento de los labios. Ya que es la escuela y no quieres verte con demasiado de maquillaje puesto. Mis productos favoritos para el condicionamiento de los labios son los EOS Lip Balm Smooth Sphere.

You can obviously add or take away products as you feel fit this was just what I think are the essentials for school.  You can use this if you are in high school, college or even working, it is very versatile and would look good for whatever scenario as long as it's not prom, ha ha!  Well this concludes what I think are the necessities, hope you all have a great school year and fulfill your goal as well!

2012 Fall Nail Polish Trends

Fall is creeping upon us soon and it's time for my 2012 Fall Nail Polish Trends post!  Fall is usually characterized by dark colors that are unique in their own way. I went with the same idea but added some fun colors that still have the fall "vibe".

Today's nail of the day features I Have a Herring Problem by O.P.I. from their 2012 Holland Collection.  I actually received this baby in the mail from Anna from Going to the Showing, featured in my Nail Mail post.  I really like this polish since it's different and the formula is amazing. *Warning this post is picture heavy*.

I Have a Herring Problem is a gorgeous blue with gray undertones that contains the finniest silver particles.  This is a creme finish, which is one of my favorites since it tends to look cleaner.  The formula is so wonderful; it goes on like butter!  With two coats is very opaque and isn't at all streaky.  The drying time is average since it is a creme finish, but it's nothing out of the ordinary.   It retails for around $8.00 anywhere O.P.I. is sold.

E.L.F. Golden Bronzer

One of my follow blogger friends Faith, from Defining Faith, actually sent me a surprise package with a bunch of goodies about a week ago and in that package she included the E.L.F. Golden Bronzer.  I was so excited when I saw this because I've seen it on the E.L.F. website but never really thought about purchasing it.

Honestly I must say that I thought that it would be a bit darker than it actually turned out to be.  I actually don't even use this for bronzer; I use it as a highlight.  Since it is so light and has that shimmery quality to it, it makes it perfect for highlighting.  I usually use it on my cheekbones and my cupids bow to give my face a little glow.  I would recommend this for women or men who have darker skin since it has golden tones which suit darken skin tones perfectly.  With this product you must remember this: A little bit goes a long way, if not you may end up looking like a disco ball.  I really enjoy the product because even though it maybe didn't work out as a bronzer it turned out to be wonderful highlighter. You can purchase it at Kmart, Target, or on their website for $3.00. Also, the packaging is really nice it is also very similar to the Nars.

Honestamente debo decir que pensé que sería un poco más oscuro de lo que realmente resultó ser. En realidad ni siquiera lo puedo uso para bronceador pero lo uso como un iluminador. Ya que es tan clarito y tiene brillo lo hace perfecto para que sea un iluminador. Lo utilizo en mis mejillas y en el "cupid's bow" lo que le da a mi cara un poco de luminosidad. Yo recomendaría esto para las mujeres o los hombres que tienen la piel más oscura, ya que tiene tonos dorados que se adaptan a los tonos de la piel más oscuros perfectamente. Con este producto usted debe recordar esto: Solo usar una cantidad pequeña, si no usted puede terminar pareciendo una bola de discoteca. Me gusta mucho el producto porque a pesar de que tal vez no funcionó como un bronceador resultó ser iluminador maravilloso.  Usted puede comprarlo en Kmart, Target o en su página web por $3.00.  Además, el empaque es muy bonito y también es muy similar a los de Nars.

Soft Kohl Kajal Liner Pencil

If you've been keeping up with my blog you will know that I love the Soft Kohl Kajal Liner Pencil (Jet Black) by Rimmel for almost everything.  I've used plenty different eyeliners in my day and up until now this has been one of my favorite, although I must say I don't think it's THE best.  I first heard about this from a couple of YouTubers's so when I finished my L'oreal Infallible Pencial Eyeliner I purchased it and I am glad I did.

Si usted ha estado leyendo mi blog sabrá que me encanta el Soft Kohl Kajal Liner Pencil (Jet Back) de Rimmel ya que lo uso para casi todo. He usado muchos diferentes delineadores de ojos y hasta ahora este ha sido uno de mis favoritos aunque debo decir que no creo que es EL mejor. I mentioned that it wasn't the best because it isn't that pigmented and it doesn't include a smudger with it.  Other than that I really enjoyed it.  What's so great about this eyeliner is that it is a kohl pencil, which means it’s very creamy and easy to smudge.  I use this almost daily using it to tight line and smudge on my upper lashes.  It lasts the whole day on, which is one of the main reasons why I love it. You can intensify or tone down the color by layering some black or brown eye shadow on top which is what I do since it keeps the liner lasting longer as well.  I think this is a really good everyday eyeliner since it leaves a soft defined look without looking over dramatic.  It retails for around $4.29 anywhere Rimmel is sold.

Mencione que no era el mejor porque no es tan pigmentada y no incluye un difuminador. Aparte de eso realmente lo disfruté. Lo que es bueno de este delineador de ojos es que es un lápiz kohl, que significa que es muy cremoso y fácil de difuminar. Yo lo uso casi a diario para hacer mi "tight line" y difuminarlo en mis pestañas superiores. Dura todo el día, lo cual es una de las razones principales por lo que me encanta. The Oil-Free Acne Wash from Neutrogena has been my night time face wash for the past year and it has really helped keep the few pimples I get at that time of the month at bay.  It is a normal gel face wash that really cleanses the face while at the same time helps fight against acne. As well this product is the #1 dermatologist recommended acne-fighting cleanser, so it must be good right?

NOTD- Harvest Moon

Today's nail of the day features Harvest Moon by China Glaze from their Hunger Games collection. Ever since I heard about the collection coming out I had always wanted to try some of them out since Hunger Games is one of my favorite book series (after Harry Potter) but I just never got to buying one.  I finally stumbled on this one when I went to Sally's Beauty Supply and saw them on sale for $3.28!  Harvest Moon represents District 9- Grain.

El "nail of the day" es Harvest Moon de China Glaze de su colección de los Hunger Games (represente al Districto 9- Grano). Desde que me enteré que iban a sacar la colección los quería probar ya que Hunger Games es una de mis series de libros favoritos (después de Harry Potter) pero nunca llegue a comprar uno. Finalmente me encontré con éste cuando fuí a Sally's Beauty Supply los vi a la venta por ¡$3.28! 

Harvest Moon is a GORGEOUS copper/bronze color with a metallic (maybe even foil) finish. The highlights of the polish are that it isn't streaky, application is wonderful since it goes on very smoothly, and with 2 coats it's very opaque.  Since it is has a metallic finish it tends to chip off faster, but this one held up pretty good.  The only this I dislike is that it tends to leave a bumpy finish after a while; as you might see in the last picture.  I thought maybe it was my topcoat so I used a different one but the same problem occurred.  It retails for around $6.99 anywhere China Glaze is sold, unless you can find it on sale like I did ;)

Harvest Moon es un color cobre/broonce PRECIOSO con un acabado metálico (tal vez hasta puede ser un "foil"). Lo bueno del esmalte es que no es rayada, la aplicación es una maravilla y con 2 capas es muy opaca. Dado que tiene un acabado metálico tiende a descascararse más rápido pero éste se mantuvo bastante buen. Lo único que no me gusto es que tiende a dejar un acabado lleno de burbujas después de un tiempo, como se puede ver en la imagen anterior. Pensé que tal vez era el "topcoat" pero intente con otro pero se produjo el mismo problema.  Se vende por alrededor de $6.99 en cual quier lugar donde venden productos de China Glaze, a menos que lo encuentra a la vente ;)

BareMinerals All-Over Face Color- Glee

Today's post is on one of my favorite blushes, the BareMinerals All-Over Face Color in the shade Glee.  I received this in one of Sephora's gift sets last Christmas and at first didn't know what it was for since it did say All-Over face Color, but it looked like it would be too dark for my who skin tone.  Later I found out it is an Illuminating Mineral that provides a dewy finish.

La reseña de hoy es sobre uno de mis rubores favoritos, el BareMinerals All-Over Face Color en el tono Glee. Yo recibí esto en uno de los conjuntos de productos de Sephora en Navidad y al principio no sabía para qué era, ya que decía "All-Over Face Color", pero parecía que iba a ser demasiado oscuro para mi tono de piel. Más tarde me enteré de que es un iluminador mineral que deja un acabado luminoso en la piel.

This all-over face color is meant for just that, from your cheeks to your forehead, you name it but personally it's too dark for me to place all over.  I use this as a blush on my cheekbones, which looks really pretty since it does have that luminosity to it.  It is a soft, mauve plum color that is ideal for fall and winter, but I never really follow the guild lines too much.  Although it does add luminosity it does not contain sparkle, but isn't matte either. Although it only contains .02 oz it has lasted me a very long time and has a lot of product left so even though the price might be a little shocking you are paying for what you are getting.  The All-Over Face Color also has 7 other colors, 8 in total, to choose from with shades ranging from deep bronze to a light pink.  This retails for around $19.00 and can be purchased wherever BareMinerals products are sold.

El "all-over face color" es para eso mismo, desde sus mejillas hasta su frente, lo que sea pero personalmente es demasiado oscuro para colocar por todo mi cara. Yo lo utilizo como un rubor en mis mejillas que se ve muy bonito ya que tiene esa luminosidad. Es un color suave, ciruela malva que es ideal para el otoño y el invierno pero y nunca a sido el tipo de persona de seguir las líneas del gremio. A pesar de que le añade luminosidad a su piel no contiene brillo pero tampoco es mate. A pesar de que sólo contiene .02 oz me ha durado mucho tiempo y aun tengo una gran cantidad de producto por lo que aunque el precio podría ser un poco chocante están pagando por lo que está recibiendo. El All-Over Face Color también tiene 7 tonos, 8 en total, para elegir con tonos que van desde el bronce oscuro a uno de color rosa claro. Benefit High Beam is a luminescent complexion enhancer or in other words a highlighter.  What is a highlighter you might be asking?  A highlighter is just like a highlighter you would use in school; you want to "high light" the facial features such as the bridge of the nose, the forehead, the top of the cheekbones, and even the Cupid's bow.  Some people even mix them in their foundation to give the whole face a glow.  Highlighters aren't harsh and aren't yellow or blue, don't worry, but are usually a shimmery pink or gold toned color.  High Beam is a very popular highlighter and is recommended by a lot of gurus.

High Beam is a pink toned highlighter that has very fine micro glitter in it but doesn't give too much sparkle.  This particular product suits best fair skin since the pink tone looks best on it (gold tones look best on darker skin tones).  It applies very nicely and blends in beautifully and lasts a long time on the skin.  Even though I has a sample size (4.0 mL) it has lasted me a long time because you only need a tiny amount since it goes a long way.  I don't like to go overboard with this product either because since I have combo skin it could make me look greasy if I add too much.  I would have to say the only downfall on the product is the price.  It retails for roughly $26.00 for 13.0 mL which I think is very overpriced.  You can purchase this at Sephora, Ulta, Benefit's website, or wherever Benefit is sold.

High Beam es un highlighter de tono rosa que tiene brillo bien fino en él que no da un brillo demasiado.
